At end of April to beginning of May 2018 Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) monitored the trekking trail, hotel, catering and sanitation of Kanchanjunga base camp circuit trekking starting at Fungling Market from the headquarter of Taplejung district.

Kanchanjunga Trekking Trail is culturally natural and collaborative way crossed by 4480 meters and crossed the sync of 4646 meters, both of which were started from the Fungling Market or Suketar in the district headquarters of Taplejung district.

The Coordinator of Trekking Trail Monitoring and Maintenance Department Baburam Gurung reported that due to the Jeep Road, the pathway starting from Fungling Market or Suketar, have been reduced to Taplethok and can be reached Lelep in a very short period of time. The trekking trail is getting shorter due to the agricultural road constructed from Suketar to Lali kharka till Kade Bhanjyang and similarly the path from Tharpu, Limbuding to Yamphudin. If this is the exact level of agricultural roads, short time it can be reached in both the base of North and South Kanchanjunga will be citing as well.

The trekking trails are gradually being managed. Due to the snow poles managed by the KCAP, Khambachen, Lonak, Pangpema base camp and Chairam to Ramche, Oktang can be easily reached although the heavy snow fall occurs. This has made trekkers easy.

Trekking Trail Maintenance and Monitoring Department found that 20 kilometers of trekking trail from Ghunsa till Chairam following the trail Selele High Camp, Selele Pass, Seniyonla Pass must be maintained and re-constructed through the coordination of TAAN, KCAP and locals that will make trekkers easy for trekking.

Though in many places lodge and catering facilities are improving, sanitation program must be organized. It was seen that though the relation between KCAP and locals seems to be good but the management of lodges at Lonak, Selele High camp, Chairam, Ramche and Tortong have not been carried out.  It is certain that if further research and study would contribute in tourism growth.

Therefore, it was resulted to construct of trekking trail, Snow pole markers. Similarly, the hotels, homestay operators are required to provide training and awareness programs of cooking, baking and sanitation.
